Incubation

How our Incubation Works

Our incubation program is designed to nurture agribusiness ideas from concept to commercialization. Through expert mentorship, hands-on training, funding opportunities, and access to cutting-edge agricultural resources, we provide a structured pathway for entrepreneurs to develop, scale, and sustain successful agribusiness ventures.

The pre-incubation phase is a preliminary process to introduce our clients to the program and assess their needs properly. Incubates will undergo 3-6 months of preparation and support before the actual incubation training. During this period, needs assessments will be conducted individually on incubates. The objective of this phase is to understand their needs, business ideas and models that are extremely viable and have good market valuation with the potential for growth and expansion of the supported farmer. Targets and objectives will also be set between the incubate and the incubator on what should determine success and graduation. This stage will help us to develop a tailor-made incubation program package. Upon successful completion preincubation, the business will move to the full incubation stage.

Pre-Incubation 3 - 6 Months

At this stage, businesses officially enter the incubation program and gain full access to our tailored support services. These services are customized based on the specific needs identified during the pre-incubation phase, ensuring each business receives the most relevant guidance and resources. Incubates will benefit from expert mentorship, training, funding opportunities, market access support, and technological resources to help develop and scale their agribusiness ventures. The duration of the incubation process varies between 1 to 3 years, depending on the complexity, growth stage, and unique requirements of each business. This flexible approach allows for structured and effective development, ensuring long-term sustainability and success

Incubation 1 - 2 years

The incubation program’s standard graduation is determined by the specific objectives set by each business. However, after the agreed-upon timeframe, contracts can be extended to provide post-incubation support, ensuring continued access to specialized business services. This additional support helps incubated farmers navigate challenges as they work toward scaling and expanding their agribusiness ventures. By maintaining a connection beyond the initial incubation phase, we provide reassurance that expert guidance remains available when needed. Our approach follows an integrated conceptual framework designed to create and sustain effective agricultural business incubators in South Africa, fostering long-term industry growth and success.
